ADHD Screening Assessment

Understand Attention Challenges

Screening for ADHD Symptoms to Guide Support and Next Steps

An ADHD screening assessment is used to assess whether an individual present some symptoms of ADHD based on the environment the individual finds themselves in. The screening assessments often consist of standardized questionnaires or rating scales that are completed by parents, teachers, and sometimes the individuals themselves.

These questionnaires include items that assess various symptoms associated with ADHD, which include difficulty maintaining attention, being easily distracted, having trouble organizing tasks, being excessively restless or fidgety, and acting impulsively without thinking.

How the Screening Assessment Helps

The screening assessment can help provide clarity to the client on why they might be experiencing difficulty in the classroom or with everyday tasks and interventions can be put in place.

An example of an intervention is assessment accommodations in the classroom.

Please Note:

As a Psychometrist I am unable to make any formal diagnosis or prescribe/recommend medication. When the screening assessment indicates the ADHD behaviours could potentially be too disruptive a referral letter can be written to a healthcare provider who is able to assist.
